To know Linux better, here are the some fun and interesting facts about the Linux operating system.

  • Linux kernel is written in the programming language C.
  • This operating system is a freeware. Meaning it is free from virus and malware infections.
  • Linux official mascot is a penguin named Tux.
  • Back in the old days, a man named William Della Croce Jr. registered the name Linux and demanded a royalty. Later on, he agreed to assign the trademark to Linus Trovalds who is the true owner.

  • Renowned companies such as Facebook, Twitter, Cisco, Linked In and Google are using Linux as their main operating system.
